Inside the USS Nautilus. My cousin walking through a hatch. I thought you were too tall cuz but you made it. Imagine having to run through the many hatches in a submarine during an emergancy without getting injured. Watch your head.. |
Heres my other cousin the Army Vet making his way through a submarine hatch. Just like riding a Yamaha. Cool cuz your a natural. |
You thought I could'nt make it, Ha… And who said big guys could'nt fit through a hatch in a submarine. Well theres your proof. Thank God I didnt get stuck. |
This person is not a family member. In fact its just a mannequin set up in the torpedo room. Man the torpedo's. What a dangerous job. God bless those that are assigned torpedo duty. |
These mannequin"s are steering the Nautilus. The only problem is there are no propellers. Maybe next time fellas. Got to have that morning coffee. |
This is the Captains sleeping quaters but the captain is no where to be found. He must have abandoned ship and left his clothes behind. Your guess is as good as mine. |
I looked on the deck of the Nautilus and guess what? No Captain. Maybe he's out to lunch. Oh well. It was nice touring the inside of the Nautilus. If you have never been inside a submarine then I suggest you visit the Nautilus in Groton Connecticut. Its worth the trip. |
My cousin and I found those propellas. Maybe they can pay us to install them. |
This is a Japanese Type A submarine that is outside the museum. Its supposed to be a 2 man sub. Im not sure how they moved around. I guess they crawled. |
This is the American version of the Midget Submarine SS X-1 which is also outside of the museum. Not sure how sailors moved around but its amazing how were able to build ships like this. |
This is the Sail of the NR-1 outside of the museum. |
My cousin used to be a weapons expert when he served in the military. Hes sitting on a 5"/25 late World War 2 Submarine Deck Gun. This was the last Deck Gun used by American Submarines. Its made of corrosion resistant steel and is able to withstand salt water. |
One of these missles could be shot from a submarine. Thank God this one is inactive. This is also outside of the museum on display for the world to see. |
The Forty One for Freedom monument. This monument has the name of all 41 submarines that were nuclear powered ballistic missile submarines. They were designed to deter threats from a nuclear attack. Thank God for the Forty One for Freedom defense. |
This is the Main Entrance to the Submarine Force Library and Museum. The weapon you see hear is the UGM-84 Harpoon long range anti-ship missile. It was was able to be fired from surface ships and submarines. |
Its getting late and im tired. Ill finish this up tomorrow. Have a good night.
